Respiratory Drug Delivery Tools: Effective Use & Safety

Credit Hours: 4.0  |   Fee: $100.00

** This course is closed and can be accessed by existing registrants only. **

Asthma is an important public health concern with significant economic and clinical consequences. The increasing number of respiratory delivery devices being used to deliver medication to the lung makes it difficult for health professionals to keep current. Yet, patient outcomes are contingent on proper inhalation technique. This course familiarizes health professionals with proper technique and prepares them to provide quality patient education on currently available respiratory devices. Recorded demonstrations of devices being used correctly, enhance the learning experience. Visual displays of numerous devices add to the learner's understanding of the mechanisms, patient's use, and care of each type of devices. Supporting materials located in the online classroom help health professionals to remain current. This program is offered asynchronously through the CIPS Knowledge Enterprise at www.pharmacists4knowledge.org. To acquire hands-on experience in inhaler device patient education the Inhaler Device Counseling Techniques (KE-CN#RSP002) is strongly recommended. Respiratory Drug Delivery Tools: Effective Use and Safety (KE-CN#RSP001) is foundational for all pharmacists enrolling in Essentials of Rx for Asthma (KE-CN#RSP003) and Comprehensive Medication Therapy Management for Asthma: A Patient Center Approach (KE-CN#RSP006).
