Buprenorphine/Naloxone Nonmedical Use and Diversion: The Role of the Pharmacist (Online)

Nonmedical use of opioids is a growing problem within the U.S. Pharmacists possess unique knowledge, skills, and responsibilities, which enables them to play a critical role in opioid abuse prevention, education, and assistance. The Buprenorphine/Naloxone Nonmedical Use and Diversion: The Role of the Pharmacist (KE-CN#PAIN105) course explores trends in opioid abuse, legal restrictions on opioid medications, and tips on identifying prescription fraud and red flags for diversion. Pharmacists who complete this training will have the knowledge and resources to identify signs of abuse and prevent opioid abuse.

  • Treating Opioid Use Disorder with Buprenorphine/Naloxone (KE-CN#PAIN104)


Learning Objectives
  1. Describe the magnitude of the problem of nonmedical use of buprenorphine;
  2. Describe potential roles of the pharmacist in managing buprenorphine/naloxone patients and preventing drug diversion; and
  3. Identify red flags of drug diversion.
